Zags stay at No. 2 in latest AP Top 25 poll

SPOKANE, Wash. — Baylor strengthened its grip on the No. 1 spot in Top 25 this week, keeping the Zags at No. 2. ahead of Gonzaga.

Kansas, San Diego State anad Louisville rounded out the top five and No. 9 Maryland jumped into the top 10.

The Zags beat USF on Saturday, after trailing behind the Dons for the majority of the game. Filip Petrusev scored 23 to keep the Zags afloat in the first half, as USF went up by as much as 11 points. The Zags cut the halftime lead to eight and the hero of the final few minutes was Corey Kispert.

Freshman Drew Timme had his career high in points for the Bulldogs, finishgin with 19. Joel Ayayi hit two key three-pointer to keep the Zags in the game in the second half and finished with 12 points.

Gonzaga was able to hold on to the two-point lead for their ninth WCC win, they’re 9-0 in conference and earn their 36th straight conference win. They are now 23-1 on the season.
