Zags add Destiny Burton of Panola College to roster
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga women’s basketball team has landed a new forward.
Transfer student Destiny Burton, a 6-foot forward from Panola College, a community college in Carthage, Texas, is the second signing for the Zags this offseason. The Zags signed Utah transfer Brynna Maxwell in April.
Burton started 29 games last season, playing in 49 games in total. Averaging 8.4 points and 6.2 rebounds a game, she helped the Ponies achieve a conference record of 12-6, ending with a 21-8 record overall.
Burton recorded 20 double-digit games, with her career high coming against Blinn College last December, dropping 19 points in that game.
“We are so excited to welcome Destiny to our program,” Head Coach Lisa Fortier said. “Her physicality and energy are going to be a perfect addition to our front court. She is experienced and has had great success in a variety of different ways offensively. She is a great student and teammate and fits in well with our team. Welcome to the family, Destiny!”
