YWCA Spokane names Avista Community Partner of the Year
SPOKANE, Wash. — YWCA Spokane named Avista as Community Partner of the Year at the agency’s Partners in Progress annual meeting.
“The YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, standing up for social justice, helping families and strengthening communities has been changing the lives of women in Spokane for 115 years. It’s easy to understand why so many in our community join Avista in supporting the important work of the YWCA,” said Dennis Vermillion, president of Avista Corp. “We are honored by this recognition from the YWCA Spokane as their Community Partner of the Year.”
Avista employees have served on the YWCA’s board of directors and supported events and programs throughout the decades. The Avista Foundation has also provided financial contributions.
Avista is currently supporting the Women’s Opportunity Center at the YWCA Spokane, where women in transition can build skills to return to work, select appropriate clothing to achieve their goals, and craft a resume in an environment of compassion, care and support. Avista and its IT employees have also provided assistance in upgrading the YWCA information technology and infrastructure.
