A Wenatchee Valley College student-athlete was killed early Sunday morning when her car drifted into oncoming traffic and struck two other vehicles near Wenatchee.

WVC confirms 20 year old Rachel Odima of Layton, Utah died in the crash. Odima was a member of the women’s basketball team at WVC and was on track to graduate this spring.

“This is a painful day for the WVC community. Our students are the heart of our campus and to lose one of them is incredibly difficult,” said WVC President Jim Richardson. “Rachel’s family and her friends here on campus are in our thoughts today. Words cannon express our sympathy for this loss.”

The crash occurred on State Route 97A, approximately two miles north of Wenatchee, at about 1:55 a.m. Sunday.

A preliminary investigation found that Odima drifted into oncoming traffic. No one in the two vehicles Odima’s car struck were seriously hurt, according to Washington State Patrol.
