WSU to add quarterback transfer Gage Gubrud

Washington State Football announced that they have added quarterback transfer Gage Gubrud to their 2019 Signing Class.

Gubrud has a bachelor’s degree from EWU and will enroll at WSU this spring to be listed as a graduate transfer for the 2019 season.

Gubrud graduated from McMinnville High in 2014, and capped his high school career by throwing touchdown passes of 8 and 11 yards in the Les Schwab Bowl. He was awarded as the All-Valley Football MVP as a senior and completed about 60 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

At EWU, Gubrud was a first year starter and received a handful of awards throughout his career. He suffered from a foot injury during the 2018-19 season and appealed his medical redshirt request from the NCAA. His appeal was approved and Gubrud is cleared to play at WSU for their 2019 season.

“We are excited for Gage to come in and compete with the quarterbacks on our team. He is an extremely experienced and productive player who led Eastern Washington to great heights in his time there. It’s not often that you can add a quarterback to your roster that has started 28 games and thrown for nearly 10,000 yards. We are looking forward to getting him on campus and finishing his collegiate career in a WSU Cougar uniform,” said Coach Mike Leach.

Gubrud will start practicing in the spring with his new team.
