Woman dead in upside down car in Spokane River
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — On December 12 around 8:40 a.m., a caller reported seeing a vehicle in the Spokane River, on the south side, between Flora Road and Long Road. The caller said that no one was near the vehicle.
Spokane Valley Fire Water Rescue and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team members responded to assist Spokane Valley Deputies at the scene and recovered the body of a woman from the vehicle.
Evidence at the scene showed that the vehicle turned north from Montgomery on a private drive. It continued north, past the dead-end, over the steep embankment and came to rest upside down and partially submerged in the river.
Investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the deadly incident.
According to the release from the Sheriff’s Office, the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the woman, along with the cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
