Whooping Cough Outbreak Continues
The Grant Count Health District said another case of whopping cough was reported in the area on Monday.
The Health District said in a press release that the most recent case of whopping cough was found in a 3-month-old infant. As of Thursday, 29 people who have been in close contact with Whopping Cough patients are now taking antibiotics.
According to the Health District’s press release, people who were exposed to whooping cough include those in a child care facility, pregnant women and a health care worker and all cases are from Quincy, Ephrata and Moses Lake.
The Grant County Health District has investigated 32 cases of whopping cough and 270 cases of exposure since the beginning of the outbreak in August 2010.
