Whitworth University requires students, staff to get COVID-19 vaccine by August 7
SPOKANE, Wash. — Whitworth University is requiring all students, faculty and staff by August 7.
The University made the announcement Wednesday, joining other colleges that have made similar decisions in recent months.
All students, including undergraduate, continuing studies and graduate, as well as all employees, will need to provide proof of vaccination in early August. Exemptions can be made for medical or religious reasons.
Students who are in online-only programs do not need to be vaccinated.
Whitworth President Scott McQuilkin said the decision comes in light of changing CDC guidance and coordination with the Spokane Regional Health District. The university does not know the extent of campus restrictions, as that falls to health experts, but says people with exemptions from the vaccine may be regularly tested for COVID.
