SPOKANE, Wash. — Whitworth University has teamed up with REACH West Central to help build and distribute free air purifiers to the West Central community.

REACH West Central will be giving out these air purifiers on Friday, June 3, from 3:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. at the West Central Neighbor Day event.

West Central Neighbor Day is in A.M. Cannon Park at the West Central Community Center.

Students from Whitworth help build these air purifiers with REACH volunteers. REACH West Central helps the West Central community in Spokane.

“We’re grateful for all the assistance we’ve received from the Dornsife Center,” says Jessie Norris, secretary of REACH West Central. “Their support has made it possible for us to expand this project, both through funding and also through the volunteer efforts of the wonderful students who have helped us.”

Since 2015, Spokane averages eight days a year during wildfire season where air quality failed health standards. REACH West Central is expected to distribute about 250 air purifiers before wildfire season starts.
