‘Whether healthy or sick, please don’t lick,’ warns Dept. of Health on sealing ballot envelopes
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington’s Secretary of State and the Department of Health recommend that voters not lick their ballot return envelopes to seal them.
“Whether healthy or sick, please don’t lick,” reads the slogan, which comes from the Washington State Department of Health.
The warning comes as Washington grapples with nearly 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which has killed nine people so far in the state.
Secretary of State Kim Wyman says voters should use alternative methods to seal their ballot envelopes, like a wet sponge or cloth.
Washington’s presidential primary is March 10.
