Wednesday’s Child: Brittany
SPOKANE, Wash. — You’ve probably heard life compared to a blank canvas. For Brittany, hers is a medium marred with loss and confusion.
Family that has let her down, and different foster homes, different schools, and an uncertain tomorrow.
Brittany, 17, is looking forward to adulthood. But she’s also fearful that she’ll become an adult without someone who is always there for her.
Brittany has colorful goals and plans.
“I love working with animals,” she said. “I want to be a vet.”
She also loves children, working in her church’s nursery, and some days, wants to travel to Paris.
These are journeys she doesn’t want to take alone. She needs her own people, a family.
“Just someone supportive, caring, and understands,” she said.
And she understands that the thought of adopting a 17-year-old might make you bristle.
“You have to have a really strong heart, a kind heart, to do something like that,” she said.
She just hopes you are up for the challenge.
