Water project postponed, normal operations resume in Airway Heights
AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — The City of Airway Heights Public Works Department said a plan to relocate an intertie connection has been postponed. Normal water operations have resumed in the city.
The department first posted about the project on Friday and requested residents to conserve “as much water as [they] can” during the month of May. Now that the project has been postponed, the department retracted their statement. However, they did add that water conservation is always encouraged.
The project was postponed by the City of Spokane. Airway Heights has relied on using water from Spokane since the U.S. Air Force informed the city potentially dangerous chemicals used in firefighting materials on Fairchild Air Force Base may have contaminated local wells.
