Washington State QB Anthony Gordon will sign with Seahawks as UDFA

Anthony Gordon drafted in 2020
Anthony Gordon broke records at WSU at QB, and now has a chance in NFL

Anthony Gordon broke records in his lone season starting for the Cougs at quarterback, but unlike those before him, Gardner Minshew and Luke Falk, he never heard his name called at the NFL draft.

Minshew and Falk were both drafted in the sixth round of 2019, and 2018 respectively. In 2019, Gordon passed for more yards than any QB in the country with 5,579 yards. 48 of them were touchdowns and he finished the season as an All-Pac-12 Second-team and a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, the award given to the nation’s best quarterback.

Gordon was projected anywhere from rounds 4-7 after a really impressive Senior Bowl performance. He threw two touchdowns and was 8-of-12 for 69 yards as his team (North) beat the South.

Soon after the draft ended, Gordon was already rumored to be signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks.

Likely joining him in the NFC West is fellow teammate Easop Winston Jr., who reportedly will be signing with the Los Angeles Rams.

Long time NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. had Gordon as the best available quarterback after Georgia’s Jake Fromm was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round, but Oregon State’s quarterback Jake Luton was selected before him. Luton is a former Idaho Vandal before transferring to a junior college and ending up in Corvallis, where he had an impressive career. He will play behind Gardner Minshew at Jacksonville.
