On Friday, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) will join regional and national partners to promote lowering consumer energy bills, reducing pollution and finding more efficient methods of meeting energy needs.

Governor Jay Inslee signed a proclamation declaring Washington state’s commitment to Energy Efficiency Day, a nationally recognized day of promoting energy efficiency best practices. The goal is to encourage Washingtonians to make changes to reduce their energy use.

Reducing the energy used by homes, manufacturers and businesses benefits everyone, especially energy ratepayers. The average household saves nearly $500 every year thanks to efficiency standards for common appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators and water heaters.

The UTC encourages everyone to observe Energy Efficiency Day by making one change to use less energy at work or at home.
