Wanted suspect shot by law enforcement in Okanogan County has died

TONASKET, Wash. — The man shot by law enforcement in Riverside on Tuesday has died, the Wenatchee Police Department confirmed.

According to a release, Okanogan County Sheriff’s deputies and an Omak Police detective were searching for the man who had a felony warrant for their arrest when the shooting took place.

The officers found him in a car on Maine Street in Riverside when police say the suspect shot at them.

The officers fired back, striking the man. They attempted CPR and he was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police still haven’t released his name or what charges he was wanted for.

The North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit has since picked up the investigation into the shooting.

All deputies and the detective involved were placed on administrative leave while they investigate.
