Walmart employees volunteer at UGM on 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s death
SPOKANE, Wash. — To honor the 50th Anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr., employees at the Shadle Walmart volunteered their time Wednesday at the Union Gospel Mission’s Crisis Center in North Spokane.
The volunteers deep cleaned the kitchens, organized food, and scrubbed the 34-room shelter.
Walmart also donated $1,000 and personal care kits.
“It just feels great to help out our neighbors,” said Shannon Holly, Assistant Manager at the Shadle Walmart. “We live in the same community as everybody.”
On average, 90 women and children stay at the crisis center every night.
