Alcohol a factor in crash at Spokane Airport, police say

SPOKANE, Wash. –Spokane Police said alcohol was a factor in a crash that injured two people in a loading zone at the Spokane Airport late Sunday night.

David W. Bergstrom was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular assault.

According to a release from the SPD, the collision happened around 11:50 p.m. just outside of the Southwest terminal. A husband and wife were loading luggage into the back of their vehicle when Bergstrom reportedly drove into the loading zone and struck them and the back of their car.

The couple’s two daughters were seated in the back seat of the vehicle at the time.

The couple suffered broken bones and lost consciousness, according to police. The daughters were not injured.

According to the Spokane County Jail inmate roster, Bergstrom also faces reckless endangerment charges. He is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
