Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery celebrates 25 years of Santa Express!
SPOKANE, Wash. — If you’re kids are eager to do a little Christmas shopping of their own. The annual Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery fundraiser “Santa Express” is celebrating 25 years at River Park Square.
Kids 4 to 12 are welcome to come and bring their allowance and shop for friends and family. Each child is paired with a volunteer elf, who helps them pick gifts and stick to a budget. Last year, they raised $100,000 in just 30 days for the safe shelter for children in crisis situations.
Hayley Lydig with Santa Express explained, “I’m seeing others that are like me that were shoppers as a child and now they have their own kids and they are started to create that tradition in that new generation.”
Unfortunately this year, they are having some difficulty with getting those elves to volunteer their time. If you’d like to sign up to help the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, we’ve posted a link here. Santa Express asks that if you do sign up to volunteer, please show up or give notice if you cannot make it.
Santa Express is located on the second floor of River Park Square.
