Vandals Fall To Northern Colorado
MOSCOW, Idaho — Not much went Idaho’s way on Thursday night as the Vandals fell to Northern Colorado, 80-63, in the Cowan Spectrum.
Idaho was cold to start the game, with Northern Colorado building a double-digit lead 10 minutes in. The Bears were outstanding from beyond the arc in the first half, hitting 8-of-14, as the lead continued to grow, finishing at 41-28 at the break.
The Vandals made a push in the second half, with Victor Sanders taking over to the tune of 18 points in the frame. Sanders shot 58 percent (7-of-12) in the half, including 3-of-8 from deep.
But Northern Colorado always had an answer, maintaining its double-digit lead for the majority of the second half.
Victor Sanders. Sanders was the lone Vandal to score in double-figures, finishing with a game-high 26 points. He connected on 10-of-20 field goal attempts, 4-of-11 from range. Sanders also dished out three assists and picked up four steals.
Idaho moves to 5-3 in Big Sky play, tied with Northern Colorado.
Sanders moved into third in Idaho history in scoring, passing Brian Kellerman. He now has 1,609 points, 15 points behind Stephen Madison for second in school history.
Idaho lost the rebound battle, 35-25. It is the first conference game this season that Idaho has lost the rebound battle, and just the fourth time overall.
No Vandals recorded more than four rebounds on the night, the first time this season that this has happened.
