UW Medicine to launch COVID-19 antibody testing

SEATTLE — Beginning April 21, the University of Washington Medicine Virology Lab will begin antibody testing for COVID-19.
The lab currently is receiving multiple shipments of the Abbott laboratory–based antibody blood test for clinical use.
The test is comprised of a blood draw order from your physician.
“Antibody blood tests are important to check people for past infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the cause of COVID-19,” said UW Medicine in a release.
These tests could support and assist the development of vaccines and treatment strategies.
