UW Marching Band thanks Quincy after Apple Cup crash with special delivery
QUINCY, Wash. — Nearly three weeks since the Apple Cup, the University of Washington Marching Band is saying thank you to the city of Quincy with a special delivery. Quincy School District posted on Facebook, George Elementary School received more than 70 packages full of school supplies from the marching band.
The Husky Marching Band was on its way to Pullman for the Apple Cup last month, when one of its buses flipped on its side.
According to Washington State Patrol, 56 students were on board, and an estimated 45 band members were sent to area hospital as a precaution. The remaining students and staff on board the bus were taken to George Elementary School to be checked out by medics.
Several members of the George and Quincy communities turned up to George Elementary School to deliver leftover Thanksgiving dinner, and other hot meals to the students and staff.
The school district thanked the marching band, its alumni and parents for their generosity.
