UPDATE: Man sentenced to 16 years in prison for murder of girlfriend

UPDATE: Nicholas Holden has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for killing his girlfriend Tina Steward last Thanksgiving.

Previous Story:

A man charged with the murder of his girlfriend on Thanksgiving last year changed his plea to guilty Friday morning in Spokane County Superior Court.

Prosecutors say Nicholas Holden beat Tina Stewart to death; investigators say Holden got into an argument with the mother of two and ended her life.

Holden pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and will be sentenced next month.

Stewart’s family has hoped to make changes to state and federal laws in the wake of her death. They want a national database for people convicted of domestic violence.
