University of Montana research facility cited by federal regulators for violating federal law
MISSOULA, Mont. — SAEN, an Ohio-based nonprofit that monitors research facilities nationwide, has cited the University for violating federal law, according to a national research watchdog group.
A recently issued inspection report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture cites University of Montana researchers for causing a degu to become hypothermic during surgery because of the negligent and improper use of warming equipment. The animal did not recover from the anesthesia and died.
