Union issues statement in response to investigation on STA’s HR director
SPOKANE, Wash. — The president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1015, Thomas Leighty, issued a statement Thursday regarding an investigation on racial discrimination claims made against STA’s HR director in June.
You can find the statement in full here.
STA transit workers called for an investigation into practices of the agency in June after a racially charged thread was discovered on the Facebook page of Human Resources Director Nancy Williams.
Union members expressed concern over STA’s commitment to being an Equal Opportunity Employer, in light of the comments, which prompted STA’s CEO E. Susan Meyer to hire an independent investigator to look into the matter.
That investigation found the claims to be unfounded.
