Two hospitalized after trailer detaches from vehicle on US 95

A man and a woman from Greenacres have been hospitalized after the camper trailer their pickup truck was pulling became detached while the two were headed north on U.S. Route 95.

70-year-old Susan N. Thompson and her passenger, 75-year-old John M. Thompson, were pulling a camper trailer with their pickup truck on Highway 95 near milepost 275 when the trailer began to fish-tail. Thompson swerved into oncoming traffic, loosening the camper trailer which eventually became detached from the pickup and overturned on the highway. The truck struck a guardrail and continued down an 100-foot embankment.

Both Thompsons were wearing their seatbelts and transported to St. Mary’s Hosptial in Cottonwood for their injuries.

The highway was restricted to one lane for just nearly four hours during the vehicle recovery.

The crash is still under investigation.
