Completely redesigning a company’s main sedan is no small feat, but that’s exactly what Toyota is doing to its Camry for 2018.

While sales of SUVs and crossovers are growing at a faster pace than sedans, the Camry is still a big seller for Toyota and a key part of its bottom line.

For 2018, the car hopes to carry on that legend with an all-new design that features a lower hood, lower roof and wider stance.

Toyota leaders say one of the goals of the new Camry was to provide a sportier ride for the driver. They say they accomplished that through the use of a more rigid platform and a revised rear suspension.

Powering the car will be either a 3.5-liter V6, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a version of Toyota’s latest hybrid system.

Toyota announced all 2018 Camry models will come with dynamic cruise control, automatic high beams, a system for keeping the car in its lane and a system designed to detect and avoid pedestrians.

Consumers will start seeing the new Camry in Toyota dealerships late this summer.
