Toppenish-based meat company recalls 30,000 pounds of ground beef
TOPPENISH, Wash. — Time to check the meat in your freezer! A local company, Washington Beef LLC, is recalling thousands of pounds of ground beef because the products could have pieces of plastic or metal in it.
The company, which is based out of Toppenish, says someone found extraneous material in one of its products last week.
Now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of approximately 30,260 pounds of the company’s ground beef.
The products have an establishment number “EST. 235” and were produced on Dec. 27, 2018. They include a “Use or Freeze by” date of 01/20/19, so they may be in consumers’ freezers. View a full list of the products that are being recalled here.
Below are the labels of some of the included products. You can view the rest here.
According to the FSIS, “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, but anyone who is concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
