Top local headlines this Veterans Day
SPOKANE, Wash. — Today is Veterans Day; time we set aside to thank and honor those who have served to protect and defend our country.
Here are the top local Veterans Day events and stories you should know about:
Starting at 10:00 a.m., a ceremony at the Spokane Arena will honor local veterans. Doors open at 9:00. All are welcome to come pay their respects.
Or an active-duty service member? Let them know about these deals! Dozens of local businesses and restaurants are offering discounts or freebies today to thank those who have served. A few include Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, Krispy Kreme, MOD PIzza, Red Robin and Starbucks.
All active and retired military (and their families!) can ride the Looff Carrousel for free today. Also in honor of the holiday, all national and state parks are free for anyone to use. No Discover Pass needed.
No need to plug parking meters. They’re free for the holiday. If today is your trash day, you will still need to get the bins out to the curb. Trash and recycling pick-up in the city of Spokane will be on normal schedule this week.
