Timothy (Tim) David Keogh passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1st at River Mountain Village in Newport, Washington.
A lifelong resident of Pend Oreille County, Tim was born to Patrick and Lauretta Keogh in Ione Washington on July 2nd, 1939 and attended Cusick High School, graduating in 1957.
In 1963, near Ione Washington, Tim was involved in a horrific automobile accident that nearly ended his life. Then followed many months of rehabilitation during which he learned to walk again. He never forgot the lessons he learned about perseverance and dedication, and he continued to rely upon those lessons when he later became a husband and father.
Tim made his career as a logger, truck driver, and mechanic. He worked for a number of local logging companies over the years, and even owned the Cusick Service Station for a time in the early 1980s. Tim led a simple life and often said that his favorite thing was just to look out the window at the mountains and river near his home in Usk.
Tim was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn Kay Keogh, and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy J. Keogh (TJ) and Haidi of Bothell, WA, Sister Mary of Spokane Washington, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 11th at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Newport, Washington. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Tim’s life at the American Legion Hall in Cusick Washington following the service. Interment will be at Newport Cemetery.
