These animals in Green Bluff will gladly take your leftover pumpkins

Not sure what to do with your leftover jack-o-lanterns? A group of animals in Green Bluff will be more than happy to take them off your hands.

The Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary is accepting pumpkin donations Thursday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The goats, pigs and sheep will eat them right up.

“It makes a really huge difference for our animals to actually get fresh produce,” said Cheri Scandalis, founder of Higher Ground. “It’s huge, because it would be very unaffordable to try to fill their tummies and they love it.”

Higher Ground will not accept pumpkins that are drawn on, painted or moldy. Candles from inside each pumpkin should be removed before you drop yours off. Donations can be left outside of the goat enclosure.
