‘There There’ author to speak at Spokane Community College
SPOKANE, Wash. — The author of the New York Times bestselling novel “There There” will be speaking at Spokane Community College on Wednesday evening.
Tommy Orange’s novel follows the lives of urban Native Americans. Orange was born and raised in Oakland, California and is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.
Orange is a recent graduate from the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. He is also a 2014 MacDowell Fellow and a 2016 Writing by Writers Fellow.
Orange will read an excerpt from his book and will hold a conversation alongside Spokesman Review columnist and author Shawn Vestal.
The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 7 p.m. in the Lair Auditorium.
