Teenagers hospitalized following car crash near Moscow
MOSCOW, Idaho — Two 19-year-olds were transported to the hospital after a single-car rollover crash on State Highway 8 near Moscow Tuesday morning.
Christian Aguirre-Dowell and Yarina Madrigal were traveling eastbound on Highway 8 at 10:29 a.m. when the 2002 Toyota Celica Aguirre-Dowell was driving went off the south side of the road near milepost 4.5. Aguirre-Dowell overcorrected and crossed both east and westbound lanes, leaving the north edge of the roadway and striking an embankment. The vehicle came to a rest half submerged in a pond.
Bystanders assisted getting Aguirre-Dowell and Madrigal out of the car. Authorities say Madrigal was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it is unknown if Aguirre-Dowell was wearing his.
Both were transported to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow for their injuries.
