Teenage girl killed in crash near McCall, Idaho
MCCALL, Idaho — A 17-year-old girl was killed after a vehicle crashed and landed upside down in a river on Salmon River Road Saturday evening.
Katelyn J. Thayer of McCall, Idaho, was killed in the crash.
At around 9 p.m. Saturday, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a vehicle had crashed and was upside in the river.
A responding ambulance was met by a vehicle transporting one of the occupants of the crashed vehicle, 17-year-old Alaska Frandsen, of Malad, Idaho. Frandsen had been ejected from the vehicle, and witnesses brought her to meet the ambulance.
Frandsen told responders there were multiple people in the vehicle. Thayer was removed from the vehicle, and she was discovered to be deceased. No other victims were located and investigators believe Frandsen and Thayer were the only occupants of the vehicle.
At this time, investigators are unsure who was driving the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
