Teen arson suspect released from custody
SPOKANE, Wash. — The teen suspected of starting numerous fires in Spokane Valley, including two house fires, was conditionally released to his parents from juvenile detention Tuesday morning.
A judge made the determination that the teen be released on the condition that he be placed on electronic home monitoring and not have access to any firearms or flammable devices in his family’s home.
Probation Officer Patty Spiker, who has been evaluating the teen’s mental health since he was taken into custody, testified in court that the teen has not had any behavioral problems since being taken into custody.
On Monday it was determined due to a number of mitigating factors, such as a lack of criminal history, that the teen would be prosecuted as a juvenile for the arson charges he’s been charged with in connection with a string of fires in Spokane Valley back in September.
