Bullock leads Providence to 77-70 win over Washington

Rodney Bullock scored 17 points to lift Providence to a 77-70 win over Washington in the second game of the 2K Classic on Thursday night.Kalif Young added 12 points for Providence (2-1). Drew Edwards and Alpha Diallo chipped in 11 points apiece, and Kyron Cartwright had 10.Noah Dickerson led all scorers with 19 points for Washington (2-1). Jaylen Nowell finished with 14 points for the Huskies. David Crisp added 12 points and Matisse Thybulle had 10.

Gonzaga basketball signs Filip Petrusev of Serbia

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The Gonzaga basketball team has signed Filip Petrusev to a national letter of intent.The 6-foot-11 forward from Serbia is considered one of the top prospects in European basketball.Gonzaga says he played a key role in helping Serbia win the Under-18 European Championship this summer, averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.7 blocks per 40 minutes.

Williams, Brown help New Mexico hold off Boise St, 81-70

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Tim Williams had 19 points, Elijah Brown scored 10 of his 16 points in final 8:49 and finished with seven rebounds and New Mexico never trailed in its 81-70 win over Boise State on Tuesday night.Sam Logwood added 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Jordan Hunter scored 11 for New Mexico.

Seattle holds off Arkansas-Pine Bluff 63-58

SEATTLE (AP) — Aaron Menzies scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Monday night to help Seattle hold off Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a 63-58 win.Scott Ulaneo and Zach Moore added 12 points apiece for Seattle (5-5), which had to scramble when Arkansas-Pine Bluff erased an eight-point deficit with a 13-2 run that gave the Golden Lions their first lead of the second half, 51-48, with just under six minutes to play.

Villanova, top 11 remain the same in AP men's hoops poll

Villanova remains on top of The Associated Press college basketball poll while Southern Cal makes its first appearance this season. Florida State returned to the rankings.The Wildcats (10-0) received 56 first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel to stay No. 1 for a second straight week.The top 11 teams remained the same from last week, with UCLA (10-0) second with three first-place votes.

Nevada's Marshall is MWC player of week; 32 points, beat UW

(AP) — Nevada's Marcus Marshall has been named the Mountain West Conference basketball player of the week after scoring a season-high 32 points, including the game-winner with 0.2 seconds remaining, to knock off Washington 87-85.The senior guard from Saint Paul, Minnesota added four rebounds and three assists, and scored nine of Nevada's final 11 points to help defeat the Pac 12 team in Seattle Sunday night.

SEATTLE (AP) — Marcus Marshall hit an off-balance 15-footer with less than a second remaining to give Nevada an 87-85 victory over Washington on Sunday night.Marshall was unable to shake the defense of Washington's Matisse Thybulle, but was able to get the off-balanced attempt off and slide it over the rim with 0.2 seconds remaining, giving the Wolf Pack their second win this season over a Pac-12 school.

Seattle coasts to 90-49 win over Great Falls

SEATTLE (AP) — Matej Kavas scored 13 points to lead four Seattle players with double figures in a 90-49 win over NAIA-member Great Falls on Saturday night.Zack Moore hit 4 of 8 from long range to add 12 points for Seattle (4-5). William Powell had 11 points and Brendan Westendorf added 10. The Redhawks shot 54 percent from the field, got 25 assists and took a 46-31 rebounding advantage.

Telfair scores 18, helps Idaho State pull away from Bristol

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Ethan Telfair scored 18 points and Idaho State pulled away midway through the second half to beat Division II Bristol of Anaheim, California, 80-61 on Saturday night.Telfair, who had just two points in the Bengals' 78-44 loss against No. 17 Wisconsin on Wednesday, was just 4 of 13 from the field but made 10 of 14 free-throw attempts. Hayes Garrity scored 16 points and Brandon Boyd added 15 for Idaho State (2-8).

Daum dunk slams door, South Dakota St. beats Idaho 80-77

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Mike Daum scored a career-high 33 points and sealed the game with a dunk at nine seconds left as South Dakota State fended off a late surge by Idaho 80-77 Saturday night.The Jackrabbits led by as many as 15 in the second half before Idaho fought back, closing to 78-77 when Trevon Allen made three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with 20 seconds left.

Kansas State pulls away from Washington State for 70-56 win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Wesley Iwundu had 15 points and eight rebounds, Barry Brown had 14 points and Kansas State methodically pulled away from Washington State in the second half for a 70-56 victory Saturday night.Dean Wade added 11 points and Xavier Sneed finished with 10 for the Wildcats (9-1), who overcame a lousy first-half shooting performance to win their 16th consecutive non-conference home game.It was also their third straight win over the Cougars.

Karnowski leads No. 8 Gonzaga to 1st 10-0 start in history

(AP) — Przemek Karnowski scored 14 points and No. 8 Gonzaga beat Akron 61-43 in a defensive battle Saturday night, lifting the Zags to the best start in program history.Nigel Williams-Goss added 11 points for Gonzaga (10-0), which has won 10 straight to open the season for the first time since joining Division I in 1958.Isaiah Johnson scored 11 points, and Jimond Ivey had 10 for Akron (7-3).
