SWAT standoff at Cedar West Apartments ends in arrest

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane SWAT team was in a standoff with a domestic violence suspect at Cedar West Apartments, ending with the suspect coming out on his own.

Ryan B. Schaules, 31, was arrested for second degree assault with domestic violence and also has a felony warrant for the same charge. Spokane Police Capt. Tracie Meidl said he is known to have a weapon in the past.

The original call came in at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday about Schaules reportedly threatening his girlfriend. He was at the apartment at around 3 p.m.

The girlfriend was not inside apartment.

SWAT and the behavioral health unit were on the scene.
