Suspect leads SPD officers on car chase from Airway Heights to Highway 195
SPOKANE, Wash. — Two Spokane police officers were patrolling the west side of town on Sunday, when they received a call for assistance from an Airway Heights officer.
The Airway Heights officer had located a domestic violence suspect, and was attempting to stop his car.
Instead, the suspect fled onto I-90, and SPD officers joined the pursuit. Eventually, the driver entered onto Highway 195 driving south, where he cornered himself in a gated community near Meadow Lane Road.
The suspect shifted to reverse and rammed into the Airway Heights officer’s car, and turned to flee again, when an SPD officer used his patrol car to force the driver off the road and into a ditch.
The SPD officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital, and the suspect was taken into custody on two charges of second-degree assault, with an investigation undertaken by Washington State Patrol to determine if DUI charges were also warranted.
