Support local kids in need at the 4th annual ‘Socktoberdash’
SPOKANE, Wash. — The 4th annual Teen & Kid Closet ‘Socktoberdash’ is coming up in mid October.
All proceeds from the event will go to helping clothe children in foster care and experiencing homeless and poverty in the inland northwest. The event is put on by Teen and Kid Closet, a non-profit co-founded by Good Morning Northwest’s Robyn Nance.
There is a large need for underwear and socks. Those are among the items that have to be new. The closet can accept gently used clothing, but, for obvious reasons, not underwear, socks and bras.
The Socktoberdash 5K/10K aims to collect socks and underwear and raise money for these items for the local children who need them. Both boys and girls clothing (in all sizes) are needed.
The event kicks off at 9 a.m. on October 12. Those participating in the 10K will start at 9 a.m., with the 5K runners following shortly after at 9:10 a.m.
The course will take runners out and back along the Centennial trail by Mirabeau Meadows in Spokane Valley.
At the finish line, you’ll be treated to free Ben and Jerry’s, your long sleeve race shirt and other goodies. There will be prizes for the runners/walkers with the coolest socks as well!
