SPOKANE, Wash. — All students at Spokane Public Schools will be getting free meals this coming school year.

The school district says it was possible to provide free meals to its students thanks to two new bills that passed on Capitol Hill, which were HB 1879 and the Community Eligibility Program.

“Let’s take feeding kids off the table and maker sure they can focus on learning and being healthy,” WA Representative Marcus Riccelli said on Tuesday.

The support for Spokane students comes at a time when food security is rampant.
