Student found with air soft guns, no threat known

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested a 14-year-old Mountain Side Middle School student for possessing air soft pistols at school.

Mead School District Officials received a report around 3:30 p.m. that a student on a bus had a weapon and notified School Resource Deputy Jeff Rogers.

Deputies and Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the location of the bus.

Deputy Rogers located the student, who had already gotten off the bus and was walking home. The deputy found two black airsoft pistols in the student’s backpack.

The student was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention for possessing a dangerous weapon on school property.

According to the Mead School District, the bus originated from Mountainside Middle School and then picked up kids from Mt. Spokane High School before taking them home.

No students or staff were injured. The incident is still under investigation.
