Steam Plant glows pink for Race for the Cure

Spokane’s iconic Steam Plant will be reopening its doors for business on Monday, Jan. 22 after a six month renovation project closed the building.

The main-level restaurant, now called Steam Plant Kitchen + Brewery has an open design that features comfortable, tufted seating in built-in booths next to steel-clad walls. The bar offers both large tables and booth seating. Murals showcase the building’s history and patterns of steam pipes snake through the ceiling.

The restaurant’s kitchen includes a wood-fire pizza oven, rotisserie, char-broiler, and smoker. The menu has been recreated with an emphasis on handcrafted, authentic foods – and brings back lunch service for the first time in ten years. Specialties include house-smoked salmon carbonara, a rotisserie porchetta sandwich and a “wood-kissed Caesar” with grilled romaine, along with signature cocktails and a regional wine list.

The plant’s boilers also received a new coat of paint and a splash of color.

A new rooftop event space was built to help expand the building’s capacity. Located on the third level of the adjacent Seehorn building, the new space can accommodate 150 people and offers a unique view of Spokane’s skyline.
