Steam Plant named to list of coolest places to drink craft beer in America
SPOKANE, Wash. — It’s no secret to locals, but the Steam Plant is being nationally recognized for its ambiance and craft beer.
The Spokane landmark was named to Men’s Journal list of “The 10 Coolest Places in America to Drink Craft Beer.”
The list includes 10 of the top spots in America that combine great craft beer and epic spaces to enjoy them. The Steam Plant came in fourth on the list.
“Frolic around the steam plant that powered downtown Spokane from 1916 to 1986, original equipment and all, as you sip on a barrel-aged limited release or funky seasonal pint. In addition to the brewery, the compound also hosts an impressive bistro, where the stone heart pizzas are a must. Embrace your inner kid and go inside one of the smoke stacks before you call it a night,” the article reads.
The Steam Plant opened as a restaurant and bar in 1999. It temporarily closed in 2017 to undergo a $1.5 million renovation. The six-month project brought new built-in booths, steal-clad walls and murals showcasing the building’s history.
