What is Antenna Broadcast Television?
Over-the-Air (OTA) broadcast television is a highly improved digital wireless technology for reception of free over the air TV programs, including surround sound, by commonly available and reasonably priced home antennas. Each station can also transmit several programming streams over a single channel.
KXLY-TV broadcasts the following networks – ABC, MeTV, Heroes and Icons, START and DABL. These popular networks are all available via antenna reception.
In most metro Spokane locations, a YELLOW-marked style of antenna will be suggested. Walmart, Lowes, Best Buy, Ace Hardware, Fred Meyers and Home Depot are some of several retailers stocking OTA TV antennas.
If you have access to the Internet, determine what type of VHF-UHF antenna will provide the best reception at your address, Go to http://www.antennaweb.org/address then enter your TV set home’s address. The site will then suggest a color code to match an antenna in the store.
Viewer reports back to KXLY Engineering indicate RCA and Channel Master antennas may be somewhat more reliable. Spokane broadcasters utilize VHF and UHF channels. Make certain the antenna packaging states the antenna is capable of both VHF and UHF reception. Once your new antenna is mounted and plugged into the flat screen HDTV, have the set perform a “Channel Scan”, or “Find All Channels”. The set should locate and save all available area channels. If you have an older tube TV, you will need a Digital TV Converter box. These are available at Walmart, Fred Meyers, Best Buy and other TV dealerships. Connect the new antenna to the input of the converter box and the converter box’s Channel 3 output to the TV set. Tune the TV set to Channel 3 and follow the instructions on the screen to “Scan for New Channels”.
On rare occasions, digital TVs or digital converter boxes may lose their channel memory. If this is the case and are missing some or all KXLY-TV channels, unplug the TV and Digital TV converter box for one minute. Plug the equipment back in and rescan for all channels once again. In the Coeur d’Alene – Post Falls area, our signal is available on Channel 31.
In the Palouse region, our signal is available on Channel 26.
In the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, KXLY-TV’s multiple programs are on Channel 23.
Throughout the Grant County region, KXLY-TV is available on Channel 19.
For KXLY-TV viewers in the Okanogan County area, we’re available on Chanel 19.
TV viewers in the Flathead, MT region may watch us on Channel 30.
Viewers in the Wenatchee area can pick us up on Channel 23.
Bonners Ferry viewers may watch us on Channel 11.
KXLY-TV is available to Libby viewers on Channel 24 and in Troy on Channel 11.
Cottonwood and Grangeville antenna viewers may watch KXLY-TV’s programming on Ch 23.
In Leavenworth, all of KXLY-TV’s several programs are carried on Channel 5.
Lake Chelan viewers can pick up KXLY-TV on Channel 3.
