State of the City Address focuses on developing urban environment

Spokane Mayor David Condon highlighted city growth while promoting a stronger focus on developing a memorable urban environment during the 2018 State of the City Address Friday afternoon.

“Spokane is on the verge of an amazing opportunity, unprecedented levels of investment in our city,” Condon said.

Condon noted recent downtown transformations, including the Riverfront Park update. He emphasized the the importance of the Spokane River that is rooted in the city’s history and is at the heart of future development plans.

“This is where our story really begins and why our river is at the epicenter of it all.” Condon said. “Today we are experiencing the next evolution of a river that is once again firmly planted in Spokane’s identity.”

Mayor Condon also announced the launch of a new community initiative called #Spokind, which encourages people to share pictures of kindness on social media by using #Spokind.
