High school student-athletes have a lot more on their plate than just going to practice. Hard work can pay off in both athletics and academics. Those that excel in both are known at 4 News Now as Shining Stars.

Each week, the “Shining Star” segment focuses on one high school senior that is not just a part of a team, but also has a 3.5 GPA or higher. The “Shining Star” is a way to highlight a young person in their desire to be a well-rounded contributor to the community. For nominations please e-mail us at with the name and school of a high school senior that qualifies for our program.
