SPOKANE, Wash. — After winning their previous three games by a combined eight points, the Gonzaga Men’s Basketball team didn’t have much trouble in their 115-75 win over Portland on Saturday night.
This is only the fourth time this season the Bulldogs scored more than 100 points, with Malachi Smith leading the way with a season-high 27 points. Six Gonzaga players finished in double digits as the team shot 17-38 from 3-point range.
“I think just once the first one goes in it’s always like a good feeling, the first one drops,” Smith said. “It was like everything else was kind of the rim looked like an ocean. I put a lot of work in my shot, I’ve had games where I hit a lot of 3s. So the team has faith in me and I have faith and confidence in myself so don’t even think about it.”
With the win, Gonzaga improves to 16-3 on the season and 5-0 in WCC play. They will now welcome in Loyola Marymount (13-7) on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
