Julian Mininsohn and Alex Crescenti return for another edition of Friday Night Sports Extra as the High School basketball season is now in full swing.
In boy’s basketball, Mount Spokane visited Gonzaga Prep, the two top teams in the greater Spokane area with standings implications and bragging rights on the line.
Down a bucket in the first bucket, GU Prep’s Jackson Floyd knocks down a three-pointer, giving GU Prep the lead.
But Mount Spokane refused to back down. Turning defense into offense, Ryan Lafferty scored 15 points and helped Mount Spokane win the game and take first place in the league standings

The Gonzaga Prep girls team also hosted Mount Spokane Friday.
GU Prep’s Lucy Lynn got the scoring going for the Bullpups, but Mount Spokane got right back into the game.
The score was close for most of the game, but Mount Spokane made more plays, including a steal from Emma Bryant.
Mount Spokane would win the game and give GU Prep their first loss of the season. GU Prep is no longer tied for first in the standings.

In other boys basketball action, Mead traveled to North Central to take on the Wolfpack.
In the first half, it was all Liam Blanchat for Mead, hitting three-point shots and scoring buckets all over the place.
Blanchat’s 24 points would help the Panthers win after being down nine in the first quarter.
