Spokane’s favorite crossing guard
SPOKANE, Wash. — Thanks to one thoughtful parent, a local woman could be named “America’s Favorite Crossing Guard.”
If your children attend Lincoln Heights Elementary, then surely, you know Brittany Stevenson. Every morning and every afternoon you’ll find the cheerful crossing guard making sure students get to and from school safe , but you can hardly just call her a crossing guard
“She serves everywhere she goes,” claims Athena Biggs, a Lincoln Heights parent. “She helps homeless teens, she teaches them to sew. She makes chemo hats. She serves diligently at her Church. There’s nothing that woman wouldn’t do.”
Athena Biggs was the parent who, unknown to Brittany, nominated Stevenson for the title of “America’s Favorite Crossing Guard.” To Biggs, it’s a small thank you to the service Stevenson has provided.
“Brittany’s just one of the amazing people that make you feel good about your kid coming here. I let my kids walk to school – I had three kids walk to school today and i know they’re going to be safe.”
