Spokane woman born on Leap Day celebrates 100 years on her 25th birthday

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane woman is celebrating turning 100 years old on Saturday, on what is technically only her 25th birthday.

Yes, that’s right.

Cherrywood Place resident Angela Tedrow was born on Leap Day, February 29, 1920.

That means, in 100 years, Tedrow has only had the opportunity to celebrate her birthday 25 times.

“It’s her 25th birthday, but she’s 100 years old,” said Tedrow’s son, Ron Burton. “She was always shorted a little bit through the years since she didn’t have a birthday.”

Residents and staff at Cherrywood celebrated that milestone birthday on Friday, the day Tedrow usually celebrates on non-leap years.
