Spokane Valley restaurant serving alligator sandwiches for dinner

A local restaurant wants to introduce you to an unusual taste...
Alligator being grilled.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash — Forget boring chicken or salad for dinner tonight. Some diners are heading over to The Black Diamond restaurant in Spokane Valley to get in touch with their wild Cajun side. They’re having alligator sandwiches for dinner tonight.

The special dinner is part of the world of Secretburger.com, where creative chefs and curious diners get together to eat dishes that are definitely not on the daily menu. This secret burger event has been sold out since before the holidays.

For diners with tickets tonight, Chef Larry Phelps says they’ll start with an in-house 80/20 alligator tail/hickory smoked bacon grind. (Who doesn’t love bacon?) Then, combine everything with a custom Cajun spice blend.

The sandwich will be served on focaccia that looks like an alligator head with a spicy remoulade and shredded cabbage. To keep it authentic, they’ll serve it with a side of crispy fried okra. All for $25 dollars. But, this special meal cannot be ordered at the door. Only diners with “secretburger” tickets can order it.

The Black Diamond is on 9614 E. Sprague in Spokane Valley.
